Imagine is pleased to report it received a $10,000 grant from the Schumann Fund for New Jersey to support “Imagine Newark,” a new free children’s grief support center opening in the South Ward of Newark in March.
“We are grateful for the Schumann Fund for New Jersey’s investment in this program, which will help us broaden our services to reach underserved youth,” said Mary Robinson, Imagine Executive Director and Founder. “The Fund’s generous grant will help many grieving children and their families throughout Newark and beyond to get support for loss due to the death of a parent, sibling, or other important person in their life.”
Imagine provides free year-round peer grief support groups for children age 3-18 who have had a parent, brother, sister, or other important person in their life die. As a family model Imagine also provides support groups at the same time for parents and guardians of the children and for young adults 18-30. Imagine is currently seeking adult volunteers to facilitate support groups at the new center in Newark. The volunteer training will be held February 15-18th.
In addition, Imagine will be offering a Community Training for Newark residents who wish to learn more about supporting children and their families who are grieving on January 31st at 6pm, as well as a Kickoff event at noon on the 31st to bring awareness to the community about the services they provide.
