To support children and families coping with loss and to foster resiliency and emotional well-being for all those who grieve.
A world where grief, trauma, and loss are transformed into resilience, empathy, and compassion, where children coping with loss grow up emotionally healthy and able to lead meaningful and productive lives and where no child grieves alone.
Imagine was a light for me and my son as participants when we were working to find our way. In 2018 my husband, Michael Schambach, died of Stage 4 Colon Cancer, and I know that it was Imagine, and my amazing circle of colleagues, friends and family, that helped me through this loss.
I am thrilled for the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated Newark and Mountainside teams, volunteers, and board to ensure no child grieves alone. I am honored to have the chance to provide the same love and support for our children and families, that was provided to me, during some of the most difficult times in our lives.
Support, compassion, and community help create the possibility of a beautiful future – a future we all deserve.

Executive Director
Imagine started its free grief support groups in 2011 at the First United Methodist Church on Broad Street in Westfield. Through the support of the community, Imagine was able to find a place of its own in 2017 in Mountainside. Since then, Imagine has expanded to provide in-person support to serve the communities in Union County and surrounding areas, as well as virtual support to serve children and adults coping with loss all over the country.
Imagine is a space for children and families to find community after the death or a loss in their lives.
Tours of Imagine’s Center is available multiple times a month, in-person and virtually, for anyone to sign up to learn more about our mission, history and services. Take a look at our upcoming tour dates or reach out to Angela@imaginenj.org to schedule a private tour for you and/or a group.
